Actually the registration should be closed on March 28th, 2012. But there are still caps for participants . So, it's possible for your HIMA/UKM/BEM/DLM who haven't yet sent your representative. Or, may be for you who would like to send more than 2 (two) representatives in each competition.

RULES AND REGULATIONS NEWS CASTING COMPETITION


Competition Description :
News Casting competition is an extraordinary competition which develops skills in reading and presenting at the same time and also in the professional ways. We challenge all of you to represent your UKM/HIM/BEM/DLM  to become a professional news anchor.

Competition Format :
There are 2 competition stages : Preliminary Round and Final Round

General Rules :

  1. Every participant should be registered  before the competition starts ( at least 15 minutes before the competiton starts).
  2. Every participant or representative has to attend the Technical Meeting on
  3. Dress accordingly for every round : formal dressed include shirt,pants,shoes. Blazer and tie (men) are preferable.
  4. Before the competition, contestants are brief on the rules by coordinator.
  5. Each contestant will be called 3 times when their turn comes before considered as walk out.
  6. After performing, contestant may not join the audience.
  7. All participants should respect and appreciate every judgement from the judges.


Competition System :
This competition will be held and judged individually for Preliminary Round and  Final Round.

  • Preliminary Round 1
Each participant will present 3 different news in maximum 5 minutes.  The script will be prepared by the committee.
  • Grand Final Round
Each participant will present 3 different news and weather report in 10 minutes. For the weather forecast, the participants will get a picture and the participants must illustrate that picture (weather forecast) to the judges.


Judges And Scoring

  1. Accuracy correctness of spelling based on the news text 
  2. Fluency sounds, syllables, words and phrases are joined together when delivering news into the audience 
  3. Performance based on the dress that participant wear, formal dressed include shirt,pants,shoes. Blazer and tie (men) are preferable. 
  4. Intonation & expression : intonation about variation of pitch include tone,emphasizing words 5. Interaction and communication how the gesture is delivered well into the audience, ordered question include 5W+1H

RULES AND REGULATIONS STORY TELLING COMPETITIION

STORY TELLING COMPETITION
THEME : World Classic Story

  • Familiarity with contest rules and procedures often makes the difference between winning and losing. 
  • Be a winner – know the rules and procedures. 

ELIGIBILITY
  1. To be eligible to compete in Speech Contest, an individual must: Student at Agriculture Faculty.
  2. There is one person or two for each Hima/Unit/BEM/DLM.

GENERAL PROCEDURE  
  • The Story telling competition will be for Senior High School and Varsity Student 
  •  Every contestant will send the script of the story to the Committee on the competition day. (3 copies of your story) 
  • The theme of the story must be about World Classic Story 
  • The contestant may freely choose, provide and use the property needed to tell the story.
  • The Contest will be run in one round 
Round
  1. The participants shall deliver the stories not more than 10 minutes.
  2. The participants will be decreased the point if deliver the story less than 7 minutes.  The participant should not make a mistake when they performed because the duration will keep running, we do not compromise to start all over again.
  3. A brief introduction identifying author, title and intended audience is required. 
  4. The participants may stand up and move or sit in the chair while delivering their story. 
  5. Background music is allowed and consists of not more than 30% of the whole performance. 
  6. Notes are not permitted. 
  7. Participants are allowed to add proper improvisations. 
  8. A 30 second additional period is allowed, extending time will cause one point deduction. 
  9. This round will automatically decide the winner of the competition 
  10. Announcement of Contest winners is final unless the list of winners is announced incorrectly, in which case the chief judge or Committee may immediately interrupt to correct the error. 

TIMING OF TELLING THE STORY  
Round
  1. Upon being introduced, the contestant shall proceed immediately to the speaking position. Timing will begin with the contestant’s first definite verbal or nonverbal communication with the audience. This usually will be the first word uttered by the contestant, but would include any other communication such as sound effects, a staged act by another person, etc. 
  2. Timer shall provide warning signals to the contestants, which shall be clearly visible to the speakers. 
  3. A green signal will be displayed at five minutes and remain displayed for three minutes. 
  4. A yellow signal will be displayed at eight minutes and remain displayed for one minute. 
  5. A red signal will be displayed at nine minutes and thirty seconds and remain on until ten minutes. 
  6. No signal shall be given for the overtime period. 
  7. Any sightless contestant may request and must be granted a form of warning signal of his or her own choosing. 
  8. In the event of technical failure of the signal, a speaker is allowed 30 seconds extra overtime.

GENERAL PROCEDURE

  1. The Speech Contest will be for Agriculture faculty .
  2. The content of the speech must be about Agriculture.
  3. The judging of the speech will be on the basis of content, delivery and language.
  4. The Contest will be run in two rounds:
   A. Preliminary Round


  • Contestants must prepare their own five to seven-minute speeches, which must be substantially original. Any quoted material must be so identified during the speech presentation. Every contestant will send the script of the speech to the Committee on the competition day.
  • The specific subject or theme for the prepared speech will be announced in the technical meeting on Tuesday March 27 2012.
  • The top three to five contestants will be selected to compete in the final round. If the contestants (for each level) are or more than 10 persons, top 5 contestants will run to the final round. If not, only top 3 contestants run to the final round.

B. Final Round

  • The top three to five finalists will give a three to five-minute impromptu speeches which theme or subject will be given on the final round day.
  • The finalists will be given the time up to thirty minutes to prepare their speeches.
  • After delivering the speeches, all contestants will be asked by each judge with some questions related to the speech content and the contestants have to answer or give a response toward the questions (not exceed to one minute for each question).
  • Announcement of Contest winners is final unless the list of winners is announced incorrectly, in which case the chief judge or Committee may immediately interrupt to correct the error.

  • Speeches will be three to five minutes. A contestant will be decreased the score from the contest  if the speech is less than one minutes thirty seconds or more than five minutes thirty seconds, or if answering the judges’ questions exceed to one minute for each question.
  • Timer shall provide warning signals to the contestants, which shall be clearly visible to the speakers but not obvious to the audience.
  • A green signal will be displayed at one minute.
  • An yellow signal will be displayed at three minutes.
  • A red signal will be displayed at five minutes.
  • No signal shall be given for the overtime period.
  • Any sightless contestant may request and must be granted a form of warning signal of his or her own choosing.
  • In the event of technical failure of the signal, a speaker is allowed 30 seconds extra overtime before being disqualified.
  • The maximum time to answer or give the responses toward the question shall not exceed to one minute for each question.
  • On the forty fifth second, the time keeper will give a red flag signal.
