RULES AND REGULATIONS STORY TELLING COMPETITIION

STORY TELLING COMPETITION
THEME : World Classic Story

  • Familiarity with contest rules and procedures often makes the difference between winning and losing. 
  • Be a winner – know the rules and procedures. 

ELIGIBILITY
  1. To be eligible to compete in Speech Contest, an individual must: Student at Agriculture Faculty.
  2. There is one person or two for each Hima/Unit/BEM/DLM.

GENERAL PROCEDURE  
  • The Story telling competition will be for Senior High School and Varsity Student 
  •  Every contestant will send the script of the story to the Committee on the competition day. (3 copies of your story) 
  • The theme of the story must be about World Classic Story 
  • The contestant may freely choose, provide and use the property needed to tell the story.
  • The Contest will be run in one round 
Round
  1. The participants shall deliver the stories not more than 10 minutes.
  2. The participants will be decreased the point if deliver the story less than 7 minutes.  The participant should not make a mistake when they performed because the duration will keep running, we do not compromise to start all over again.
  3. A brief introduction identifying author, title and intended audience is required. 
  4. The participants may stand up and move or sit in the chair while delivering their story. 
  5. Background music is allowed and consists of not more than 30% of the whole performance. 
  6. Notes are not permitted. 
  7. Participants are allowed to add proper improvisations. 
  8. A 30 second additional period is allowed, extending time will cause one point deduction. 
  9. This round will automatically decide the winner of the competition 
  10. Announcement of Contest winners is final unless the list of winners is announced incorrectly, in which case the chief judge or Committee may immediately interrupt to correct the error. 

TIMING OF TELLING THE STORY  
Round
  1. Upon being introduced, the contestant shall proceed immediately to the speaking position. Timing will begin with the contestant’s first definite verbal or nonverbal communication with the audience. This usually will be the first word uttered by the contestant, but would include any other communication such as sound effects, a staged act by another person, etc. 
  2. Timer shall provide warning signals to the contestants, which shall be clearly visible to the speakers. 
  3. A green signal will be displayed at five minutes and remain displayed for three minutes. 
  4. A yellow signal will be displayed at eight minutes and remain displayed for one minute. 
  5. A red signal will be displayed at nine minutes and thirty seconds and remain on until ten minutes. 
  6. No signal shall be given for the overtime period. 
  7. Any sightless contestant may request and must be granted a form of warning signal of his or her own choosing. 
  8. In the event of technical failure of the signal, a speaker is allowed 30 seconds extra overtime.
